This email is regarding a potential security concern related to your
‘xxxxxxxxxxxxxx’ FTP account.

We have detected what appears to be the exploit of a number of
accounts belonging to DreamHost customers, and it appears that your
account was one
of those affected.

We’re still working to determine how this occurred, but it appears
that a 3rd party found a way to obtain the password information
associated with approximately 3,500 separate FTP accounts and has
used that information to append data to the index files of customer
sites using automated scripts (primarily for search engine
optimization purposes).

Our records indicate that only roughly 20% of the accounts accessed –
less than 0.15% of the total accounts that we host – actually had
any changes made to them. Most accounts were untouched.

We ask that you do the following as soon as possible:

1. Immediately change your FTP password, as well as that of any other
accounts that may share the same password. We recommend the use of
passwords containing 8 or more random letters and numbers. You may
change your FTP password from the web panel (“Users” section, “Manage
Users” sub-section).

2. Review your hosted accounts/sites and ensure that nothing has been
uploaded or changed that you did not do yourself. Many of the
unauthorized logins did not result in changes at all (the intruder
logged in, obtained a directory listing and quickly logged back out)
but to be sure you should carefully review the full contents of your
account.

Again, only about 20% of the exploited accounts showed any
modifications, and of those the only known changes have been to site
index documents (ie. ‘index.php’, ‘index.html’, etc – though we
recommend looking for other changes as well).

It appears that the same intruder also attempted to gain direct
access to our internal customer information database, but this was
thwarted by protections we have in place to prevent such access.
Similarly, we have seen no indication that the intruder accessed
other customer account services such as email or MySQL databases.

In the last 24 hours we have made numerous significant behind-the-
scenes changes to improve internal security, including the discovery
and patching to prevent a handful of possible exploits.

We will, of course, continue to investigate the source of this
particular security breach and keep customers apprised of what we
find. Once we learn more, we will be sure to post updates as they
become available to our status weblog:

http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/

Thank you for your patience. If you have any questions or concerns,
please let us know.

– DreamHost Security Team

From: Mail Delivery System <MAILER-DAEMON@mailsnare.net>

Date: Saturday, October 21, 2006 05:16 pm
Subject: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender

This is the Postfix program at host mail.mailsnare.net.

I’m sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be
be delivered to one or more recipients. It’s attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster>

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can
delete your own text from the attached returned message.

The Postfix program

<xxxx@yahoo.com>: delivery temporarily suspended: host
mx1.mail.yahoo.com[4.79.181.14] refused to talk to me: 451 Message
temporarily deferred
– 4.16.50

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

There appears to have been an incident involving capacity issues within
our delivery infrastructure. The error message “451 Message temporarily
deferred – 4.16.50” indicates that our MTAs are currently experiencing
heavy, unusual traffic. You may retry sending at a later time when you
see this message.

However please note that emails from the mail server(s) you are using
may also have recently become deprioritized due to potential issues with
its mailings.

These deprioritizations were temporary but may be re-triggered if the
sending IP profile continues to be poor. Typically, deprioritizations
are triggered by bad individual sender or MAIL FROM profiles.

The following link contains information on maintaining prioritized
delivery when sending to Yahoo! users.

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/spam/spam-18.html

Please also refer to the Help page below for more information on our
recommended best practices for bulk mailers. At the bottom of the Help
page is a link to a feedback form where you can contact our Customer
Care team to apply for possible whitelisting.

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/bulk/bulk-01.html

If you are not the administrator for the mail server(s) affected, we
encourage you to contact the administrator so they can address the
possible issues regarding mailings from the mail server.

If you notice any further difficulties with delivering to Yahoo! Mail
accounts after waiting a reasonable amount of time, please let us know
by replying directly to this email.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

AMY: Right after we got off the road we instantly went into, just hiding, and started writing for the next record. I’m really looking forward to touring again, it’s been 2 years since we played a show, by the time we play it’ll have been a lot longer.
The fans, I miss feeling that feeling on stage, the energy of everyone just kinda “feeling” at the same time. It’s just so powerful.
You can hear on the album a lot of the changes that I’ve gone through in my life. The album’s more mature. I mean, I’m a better musician than I was. Also I’ve gained a lot of confidence, I’m not afraid to do a lot of things that I guess on the first record I felt self-conscious about or maybe afraid to try.
Musically we really just tried so many new things. I feel like this record has a lot more soul, in more ways than one. Mostly I mean, I just really went with what I felt, even more specific and true to myself.
Like for example the first single CMWYS – it’s kinda impossible to misinterpret the lyrics. Like I really wanted to say something and it’s been said. You can look at it a different way, typical of my lyric-writing I guess. You can apply it to your life, think of it in 2/3 different ways which a lot of the writings go that way a bit.
Sometimes I’ve just really wanted to say something and said it and you can’t hide from it and I’m proud of that.
Lithium’s definitely a metaphor. I felt like I was in love with my sorrow, which I’ve always felt like. I get into these moods when I write music and it’s not the most depressed, it’s just this kinda strange low when I write. At the same time I wanna break free and feel free and happy, I think that was me getting ready to drop the ball and just change and move on.
Good Enough does frighten me. I think I’m kinda scared of it. I think it’s weird. It was the greatest song to write and to bring to the table when we were recording the album because its just really real and I was really saying what I really felt and for once that wasn’t miserable or stuck or trapped or sad or grieving, it was happy and I was like, “Well, I wrote a happy song, you guys are probably gonna hate it.”
And they loved it so, I’m in love with GE, it’s more the way I feel now. It’s the last song I wrote for the album, it’s really cool that it’s the last song on the album because its all of the things that I went through and the point that I got to.

JOHN: “All That I’m Living For” to me is, whenever I wrote the stuff that I did for that song I kept in mind what Evanescence was to me. I’ve been around for a long time. Although I didn’t have a lot of writing on the first record, I’ve been playing these songs for years so I think it has a lot of the overtones of what happened on the last record but way heavier.

TERRY: Probably the song called Your Star I like a lot, and Sober I like a lot for a single.

ROCKY: Just being able to do what I love to do everyday and being able to support my family doing what I like to do, you can’t ask for more than that really.

TERRY: A lot of cool stuff happened to us. The European tour I did with the band, and to see how big the band was and to stay so far away from home was really cool

AMY: These guys are hilarious. I am just constantly in stitches. I can’t keep up, half the time I don’t know what they’re saying…it’s hilarious. *all laugh*.
Touring overseas, it tends to be a little more stressful because you’re trying to cram it all in and they’re so many countries to go to and you’re so far from home. It’s a little harder but then again, the fans get crazier…

Baphomet

This week, Satanists from around the globe are converging on that city-of-the-damned known in common parlance as Los Angeles to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Church of Satan. Many of our representatives will be there or are en route, so please expect delays if you are a member of the press inquiring for last-minute interviews. Our time is heavily booked up through the event, with rehearsals and several documentary projects, so we will do what we can to accommodate your needs for written, spoken, or videotaped interviews.

There are publications coming out on Tuesday in Belgium and Chile with feature articles, and there will be a special on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation which will air on Tuesday and which will also have video clips on their web site, featuring an appearance by Magus Gilmore. He also filmed an interview with Reuters that may appear on any one of 500 different local news subscriber networks world wide. NPR in Chicago also recorded an interview and The Wall Street Journal has something in the works as well. We haven’t been able to keep track of all the many print articles coming out on or around the “dreaded date” which will contain quotes from us, so keep your eyes open!

For those needing some quotes for their articles, here are some thoughts on this occasion by our High Priest, Magus Peter H. Gilmore:

For Satanists, numbers are just numbers, and June 6, 2006 is a day like any other. We are amused by Christians superstitiously being afraid of this number, as well as the date—which is not mentioned in any scriptures. Since we enjoy mocking irrationality in all its forms, we embraced this day to have a celebration of our organization’s freedom from such nonsensical fears. Anton Szandor LaVey called Satanism a “Cosmic Joy Buzzer” to emphasize our function as iconoclasts and pranksters, so going where others “fear to tread” is par for our course.

We are not afraid of 666, nor do we hold it in any particular regard—it is the same with the number 13. Historically, 666 is the name of Emperor Nero reduced to its numerological value through Hebrew Gematria. Satanists think this is quaint, but of no real value except for a record of the lengths people will go to force significance where none exists, objectively speaking.

Satanists are epicurean, skeptical atheists who see Satan as a symbol of pride, individualism, and the quality of questioning all dogmas. The word in Hebrew means “adversary” and so we are each “Satans” to the doctrines that would have people use faith instead of reason to understand the universe in which we live. Our goal is to enjoy this, the only life we have and not waste it in anticipation of a mythical afterlife or an imagined apocalypse.

We’ve heard that there are people who are on one hand trying to have children on this date, and others who are trying to delay or advance their deliveries to avoid it. We find this to be grotesquely primitive. Our suggestion would be to let nature take its course, since the Satanic position is always to embrace and flow with Nature, and to drop such ignorant beliefs as they are truly unfitting for those who live in the 21st Century.

SourceForge.net: CVS service offering changes

Greetings,

You are receiving this mail because you are a project admin for SourceForge.net-hosted project. One of our primary services, CVS, suffered a series of interrelated, critical hardware failures in recent weeks. We understand how frustrating this CVS outage must be to you and your users; however, our top priority remains preservation of the integrity of your data.

The series of CVS hardware failures prompted us to expedite the deployment of planed improvements to our CVS infrastructure, drawing upon much of the knowledge that we gained from our Subversion deployment. Our improved CVS service architecture, which we plan to deploy tomorrow afternoon (2006-05-12), will offer greater performance and stability and will eliminate several single points of failure.

The Site Status page (https://www.sf.net/docs/A04) will be updated as soon as the new infrastructure is rolled out. In the interim, please read the important information provided below
to learn about how these changes will affect your project.

Summary of changes, effective 2006-05-12:
